CPCS coached rider claims 2nd on GC at 6th Bali MTB Marathon
The ever-improving CrankPunk Coaching Systems rider Peter Williamson claimed 2nd overall at the 6th Bali MTB Marathon on the weekend, taking 4th on Stage 1 and 2nd on Stage 2 in the process.
Peter, 56, has a background in high-level rugby and is a true competitor and came to me highly motivated to improve his performance in road and MTB racing. Despite a right knee replacement 3 years ago and a left hip replacement 18 months ago, Peter adapted quickly to the training schedule I set and has come on leaps and bounds in a relatively short time.
We sat down together and identified his weaknesses and strengths, then created a schedule of hard work and good rest designed to turn those weaknesses into strengths. As a result, his climbing has improved a great deal as has his all-round game.
It's still early days but I expect to see Peter on the top of the podium soon, given his tenaciousness and his eagerness to learn and improve his race craft.
Well done Peter, crank on!
