The delights of a Taiwanese bike ride

Taiwan is the hidden gem of Asia, one of its best kept secrets. The food is great and varied, the people are generally friendly and good-nartured, and, best of all, the roads are fantastic for riding.

Last Sunday was the annual tomb-sweeping day, when families head to their ancestral burial tombs to spruce up the graves. This reults in hundreds of thousands of small fires being lit as the relatives fo the deceased burn up ghost money combined with the weeds they've pulled up. That day, actually, is not too great to ride on, truth be told.

I still headed out though on my Velocite Magnus, and came across this little temple, where people were saying their prayers and having their spirits cleansed by incense.

Quite beautiful.
